BiographyMike Torcello, a Western New York Harness Horsemen’s Association board member and Horsemen’s Representative, boasts a long involvement in the sport. He was introduced to harness racing through his uncle, Ralph Torcello, who owned Standardbreds in Western New York. Currently the owner of 20 horses and a USTA member since 1979, Torcello was a trainer from 1982-1998 before deciding to attend law school at SUNY-Buffalo. Since graduating, Torcello has worked as an attorney at Doran & Murphy, PLLC in Buffalo, where his practice is focused on representing railroad workers suffering from occupationally-related disease. He is a married father of two grown children. His wife is a special education teacher in the Orchard Park, N.Y. school district and his son, a graduate of Harvard Law School, is an attorney at a Washington D.C. firm. His cousin, also named Mike Torcello, was formerly the track superintendent at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
