BiographyT.C. Lane is the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Registry for the United States Trotting Association. In addition to his role as Registrar, Lane is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day supervision of the various departments, including Member Services, IT, Racetrack Support, Communications and the Information and Research. Lane joined the USTA as its Director of Officials in 2002, following a stint with the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association, for which he served as the association’s representative to Ohio’s county fairs. Prior to becoming the Director of Registry and Member Services, Lane also served as the USTA’s Director of Officials and Regulatory, overseeing the licensing of all racing officials throughout the country. To this day, he works as a racing official when called upon at various fair and pari-mutuel tracks. Before joining the OHHA, Lane, a former licensed trainer/driver, graduated from The Ohio State University, where he majored in Agricultural Economics and minored in Equine Science. In addition to his position on the board of directors for the Racing Officials Accreditation Program, he represents the USTA at the Association of Racing Commissioners International; is a lifetime member of the International Trotting Committee and serves as the International Chair of Registration/Breeding; is a director for the National Pedigreed Livestock Council and serves as the association liaison with the Organization of Racing Investigators. Lane is currently involved in initiatives such as the USTA microchip and identification transition, the industry wide Strategic Wagering initiative and led the racing industry’s first, on-line race entry program and on-line foal registration initiatives.
