BiographyThe name Ray Schnittker and the words “New York Sire Stakes” have become synonymous in recent years; the Buffalo, N.Y., native, who now bases his expansive stable at Goshen Historic Track, has produced countless winners in the rich state-bred series. Since his career began in 1977, he has won more than 2,700 races and has driven the winners of more than $41 million. But Schnittker has also won on a wider stage, with regularity; he has won the Dexter Cup four times and has appeared among the top 10 in the Grand Circuit driver standings. Schnittker’s star, Deweycheatumnhowe, was 2007’s 2-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year and 2008’s Trotter of the Year in the Dan Patch Awards balloting. Also trained/owns One More Laugh (2010 Meadowlands Pace winner), world champion Check Me Out, 2011’s 2-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year and 2012’s 3-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year, and Huntsville, 2016’s 2-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.
