Biography

Barry Brown is the director of racing operations at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack. Brown joined the Harrah’s Philadelphia team in June 2006 as the operations/simulcast manager, a position he held until his promotion in early 2009. Among his responsibilities were the development of the track’s vast simulcast network, the introduction of a players’ reward program linking racing and gaming customers, and supervision of all internal and external racing guest services. In his current role, Brown oversees all racing initiatives at Harrah’s Philadelphia. Brown received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) in 1988, and graduated from the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program in 1993. Later that year, he became the assistant marketing and publicity director at Freehold Raceway, and, over the course of the next 11 years, assumed duties as director of simulcasting and assistant racing manager. In that role, he oversaw all facility operations and directed advertising, special events, and promotions. Prior to his Freehold stint, Brown worked for two summers (1992-1993) as a marketing/simulcast intern at the Meadowlands. Brown and his wife, Michelle, reside in Cherry Hill, N.J., with their son, Ross.
