Gabe Wand
Gabe Wand is chairman of USTA District 4 and a director since 2010. He began training horses at age 11 with his father and has been in the industry for more than 25 years. He continues to race horses in District 4 as part of a father-son duo. In 2018, he extended the all-time driving record in Wisconsin by capturing his tenth Driver of the Year title. He has owned or trained five Pacers of the Year and one Trotter of the Year in the Badger State. Gabe was the youngest person elected to the Wisconsin Harness Horse Association board of directors (at age 20) and the youngest president (at age 23). He has been the president of the WHHA for the past 15 years. Due to his dedication and accomplishments at the grassroots level, Gabe received the 2013 USTA President’s Award given by Phil Langley. In 2018, he was elected to the Harness Horse Youth Foundation Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the Illinois Harness Horsemen’s Association, Iowa Harness Horsemen’s Association and Minnesota Harness Racing, Inc. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management and human resources from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He has been employed since graduating college by Prairie Farms, a dairy cooperative that ships cheese worldwide. He has worked in sales, marketing and operational management for the company.
