Lenny Calderone
Lenny Calderone is the racing services manager and track announcer at Plainridge Park Casino. He grew up on Long Island, N.Y., attending the races with his father at Yonkers and Roosevelt Raceways before breaking into the business as a caretaker for the Lou Meittinis Stable in the late 1970s. An internship during his junior year at college in 1981 paved the way to full time employment at Pompano Park which served as the launching pad to his career in harness racing. At Pompano, Calderone was a member of the Florida Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association while working in the capacity of assistant publicity director and later as the back-up announcer at the south Florida harness racing facility.Calderone has worked in various capacities at many different tracks including co-owning several Standardbreds during his involvement in the sport spanning 35 years. A local standout baseball player at North Babylon High School, he was fortunate to receive tryouts with two professional teams as a teenager -- the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers. However, winning a division of the Battle of Broadcasters Race at Monticello Raceway in 2002 and an invitation to be the guest announcer for a Boston Red Sox-Kansas City Royals baseball game in 2012 are considered to be some of his most fun and memorable moments. Calderone graduated from St. Thomas University (formerly Biscayne College) in Miami, Fla., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sports administration. Calderone is married and has three children, Jennifer, Amber and Nicholas.

George Ducharme
George Ducharme has been a trainer for more than 30 years. He started as a groom at Foxboro Raceway with Greg MacDonald. Among the top horses in his career are Royalty For Life, Donttellmywife, Penny Dream, A Penny Earned and Four Damsals. Ducharme has had success with young horses in both the New York and Massachusetts Sire Stakes programs. Winning the 2013 Hambletonian and Canadian Trotting Classic with Royalty For Life has been the highlight of his career. Ducharme and his wife, Marge, live in Norfolk, Mass., with their two sons, George and Jake.

Stephen K O'Toole

Stephen K O'Toole
Stephen O’Toole is the General Manager–Racing at Plainridge Park Casino. He has spent more than 40 years in the sport, many as an owner-trainer-driver. Among his more prominent horses were Pearl’s Falcon, Tres Grand Vitesse, Tailgater, My Lord Rodger and Baron Pedro. O’Toole has been the leading driver at Foxboro Raceway, Rockingham Park and Hinsdale Raceway. As well as a Standardbred owner-trainer-driver, he holds current licenses for starter and judge. He has also held a Thoroughbred trainer’s license. O’Toole is a director of the Standardbred Owners Association of New England and a member of Lions Club International and Elementary School Mentors. He was the Lions Club International Lion of the Year in 2007. O’Toole is very familiar with the challenges facing harness racing today, with his extensive background in the sport.

Timothy C. Powers

Timothy C. Powers
Tim Powers is a veterinarian and the owner of Somerset Veterinary Clinic and Somerset Standardbred Stable. He has been active in the sport for 45 years. Powers graduated from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. He is the past president of the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association, a member of the Maine SBOA, served on the Maine Medication Study and Implementation Committee, and is on the board of directors of Harness Horsemen International. He is the past president of the Maine Veterinary Medicine Association and is a member of the New England VMA and American Association of Equine Practitioners. He received the 2014 Maine SBOA Special Commitment Award. He has three children, Kimberly, Sarah and Rebecca; and seven grandchildren, Oscar, Olivia, Emmett, Lucas, Elise, Esme and Liam.

Don G. Marean

Don G. Marean
Donald Marean is vice chairman of the USTA and chairman of USTA District 9. He owned and operated Standish Hardware & Feed Co. for 30 years and sold the business to his employees in 2003. Founded Lin-don Farm, Inc. with his wife Linda in 1988, and they ran it continually until 2009 as a Standardbred breeding facility where they stood up to five stallions at one time. In 2010 they retired from breeding but continue to own and race horses. They still live on the farm and continue to care for the retired horses that they own. Marean is a director of the Maine Farm Bureau Horse Council and currently is vice chair of the University of Maine (Orono) Board of Agriculture. He is also a director of the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association and past president and director of the Maine Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association. Former chair of the Land For Maine’s Future Board, he was appointed by the Governor. He was also appointed by the Governor to serve on the Animal Welfare Advisory Council, representing Maine Farm Bu-reau and large animals. Served four years in the Maine House of Representatives (2005-2008) and was re-elected to the House in 2012, 2014 2016 and 2018. In between those terms, he was the spokesman for the industry at the Statehouse as their lobbyist. He also served as a selectman in his community and is a corporator of Gorham Savings Bank. Don and Linda received the Distinguished Service Award from the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association in 2003 and he received the Appreciation Award from Harness Horsemen’s International in 2013. In 2015, he was elected to the board of trustees of the American Horse Council in Washington, D.C. Don and Linda have been married for 59 years and have three daughters, Shirley, Dawn and Christine; two granddaughters, Whitney and Blake; a grandson, Briar; and four great-grandsons, Tyler, Jayden, Brodie and Brantley.
