Kim L. Crawford
Kim Crawford grew up in a family rich in the tradition of harness racing and has been driving Standardbreds since he was 14 years old. In that time, Crawford has racked up more than 4,600 wins and $15 million in earnings. Drove his first pari-mutuel race at Saratoga in 1971, a year before graduating from high school. He raced on the New England circuit before settling at Saratoga in 1976, receiving the Johnny Page Award for best young driver the very next year. Crawford has been Saratoga’s Horseman of the Year five times (1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, and 1991). His wife, Judy, is active in the sport as a trainer and was Saratoga’s Horsewoman of the Year in 1991. Crawford currently trains a stable of horses. He also catch-drives each night at Saratoga Casino Hotel. He and his wife have three children: sons Brett and Cole, and daughter Rachel.

Mark Ford
Mark Ford, a native of Lewisburg, W.Va., is a first-generation horseman who cut his racing teeth with such horsemen as Clint Galbraith and Ted Wing. Ford is the youngest trainer in history to reach milestones of $10 million, $20 million, $30 million, $40 million, $50 million and $60 million in career earnings. He is also the only trainer to have won a pair of million-dollar races before his 30th birthday. He trained 2000 Horse of the Year Gallo Blue Chip along with millionaires Whosurboy, Turnpike Token, Armbro Animate, Stonebridge Kisses and Self Professed, top performer On The Attack and double-gaited world champion Six Day War. Ford has won training titles at both Meadowlands Racetrack and Yonkers Raceway. He races one of the largest stables in North America and is continually one of the top competitors at Yonkers Raceway, Meadowlands Racetrack, The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono and the Woodbine Entertainment Group for some of the sport’s top owners. In 2015, he became president of the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey. In 2008, he opened a premier horse training facility in the prime New York area with easy access to some of the best racing in North America.

John Matarazzo

John Matarazzo
John Matarazzo’s career in the racing industry started when he took a summer job at Saratoga Harness Track in 1978 working as mutuel clerk for OTB. Soon after that he moved into a management role for OTB, spearheading its expansion from a one-branch, one-county operation to a 55-branch, 16-county operation in Upstate New York. While at OTB he also directed the company’s marketing efforts and new business development. Included in his accomplishments was the development of the first Teletheater in New York, a full-service entertainment complex de-signed to expand racing’s customer base. The Teletheater featured racing, live entertainment, a bowling al-ley, indoor golf, arcade games, and the television broadcasts of college and professional sports. He returned to Saratoga Casino Hotel, this time as an employee of the track, first opening the Casino Gaming floor in 2004 and eventually pursuing his first love of racing, taking over as the Director of Racing Operations, a job he still holds today. Rich in history, Saratoga is in its 77th year of harness racing and currently runs programs from March through December. Along with overseeing Saratoga’s expansion of its simulcast signal into wagering outlets throughout North America and Europe, Matarazzo wrote and implemented the business plan for SaratogaBets, the company’s extremely successful interactive wagering platform. This platform became the model used for Yonkers and Batavia racetracks’ internet platforms who both partner with Saratoga today. Matarazzo is a current member of the New York Gaming Association’s Harness Committee and a former member of the HTA’s Executive and Finance committees. He lives with his wife Evelyn in Greenville, N.Y. He has one child, Carly, who is a school teacher in Boston, Mass. His pastimes include golf and music.

Ray Schnittker

Ray Schnittker
The name Ray Schnittker and the words “New York Sire Stakes” have become synonymous in recent years; the Buffalo, N.Y., native, who now bases his expansive stable at Goshen Historic Track, has produced countless winners in the rich state-bred series. Since his career began in 1977, he has won more than 2,700 races and has driven the winners of more than $41 million. But Schnittker has also won on a wider stage, with regularity; he has won the Dexter Cup four times and has appeared among the top 10 in the Grand Circuit driver standings. Schnittker’s star, Deweycheatumnhowe, was 2007’s 2-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year and 2008’s Trotter of the Year in the Dan Patch Awards balloting. Also trained/owns One More Laugh (2010 Meadowlands Pace winner), world champion Check Me Out, 2011’s 2-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year and 2012’s 3-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year, and Huntsville, 2016’s 2-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.

Jason M Settlemoir

Jason Settlemoir is the COO/GM of New Meadowlands Racetrack and Winners OTW at Bayonne, N.J., and is vice president of racing, simulcast and sponsorship for American Racing and Entertainment (Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs). Settlemoir was appointed to the board of directors for American Racing and Entertainment in September 2011. He is also simulcast director for the Little Brown Jug, as well as the second announcer; vice president of Harness Tracks of America; past president and chairman of the U.S. Harness Writers Association; Grand Circuit Director; Little Brown Jug Society Director; and was appointed a member of the USHWA Hall of Fame Screening Committee in 2016. Settlemoir is also active in the sport as a Standardbred owner and has owned in whole or part many racehorses, including part of world champion trotting mare Perfect Alliance and in 2017 Ohio Sire Stake three year old pacing champion Drunk On Your Love. He was awarded the 2006 U.S. Harness Writers Association’s Lew Barasch Breakthrough Award for his work in opening up Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs and was inducted into the Upstate New York Chapter of USHWA’s Hall of Fame in 2011. In 2014 he was awarded the USHWA Monticello-Goshen Chapter “Good Guy” award for his “youthful enthusiasm and passion for our sport, combined with his progressive thinking which has positioned the sport for the next generation.” In 2017 Settlemoir received the President’s Award from the United States Harness Writers Association for his hard work and dedication to the sport of harness racing. In 2011, he received the Tioga County United Way Appreciation Award. Settlemoir sat on the board of directors for the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce, the Southern Tier Red Cross and the Tioga County United Way, where he was chair for the annual campaign drive before making his move east. Jason and his sons Jeffrey and Travis reside in Cream Ride, NJ. Born in the Buckeye State, Settlemoir is an avid fan of Ohio State sports and Cleveland Browns football. Jason enjoys spending time with his family and friends along with watching sports and fishing in the ocean.

Bruce Tubin

Bruce Tubin
Bruce Tubin has been president and administrative director of the Western New York Harness Horsemen’s Association since 1992. Tubin has been involved in the sport as an owner since 1972 and was a trainer-driver from 1976-1992. He discontinued a growing law practice in 1976 to actively pursue his first love, that of owning, training and driving Standardbreds. He represented all of the New York State harness horsemen on the board of directors of a successful industry-wide lobbying group dedicated to bringing video lottery terminals to New York racetracks. He negotiated the first designated purse account in harness racing and is the administrator of one of the largest pension plans of its kind in the sport. Tubin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He and his wife, Beth, have been married for 50 years and have a daughter, Andrea, a son, Brian, and four grandchildren.

Michael Kane

Michael Kane
Michael Kane is chairman of District 8. Kane is the president/executive director of the New York Gaming Association and is the former president/CEO of the Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation. Kane was in charge of the redevelopment of Batavia Downs after its purchase in 1998 and subsequent reopening in 2002 and the development of video gaming at the facility (which opened in 2005). Kane attended the University of Rochester and Hobart College. He is the former mayor of the village of Dansville, N.Y., and previously was director/treasurer of the Livingston County Water and Sewer Authority and a member of the Livingston County Planning Board. Kane has spent many years coaching all youth levels of boys and girls basketball, baseball and softball. He and his wife, Luann, have a son, Nathaniel; two daughters, Alison and Catherine; two granddaughters, Michaela and Mariah; and two grandsons, Adlai and Oren.
