Barry Brown
Barry Brown is the director of racing operations at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack. Brown joined the Harrah’s Philadelphia team in June 2006 as the operations/simulcast manager, a position he held until his promotion in early 2009. Among his responsibilities were the development of the track’s vast simulcast network, the introduction of a players’ reward program linking racing and gaming customers, and supervision of all internal and external racing guest services. In his current role, Brown oversees all racing initiatives at Harrah’s Philadelphia. Brown received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) in 1988, and graduated from the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program in 1993. Later that year, he became the assistant marketing and publicity director at Freehold Raceway, and, over the course of the next 11 years, assumed duties as director of simulcasting and assistant racing manager. In that role, he oversaw all facility operations and directed advertising, special events, and promotions. Prior to his Freehold stint, Brown worked for two summers (1992-1993) as a marketing/simulcast intern at the Meadowlands. Brown and his wife, Michelle, reside in Cherry Hill, N.J., with their son, Ross.

Rich Gillock
Rich Gillock learned the racing business from his grandfather, Mike, and has been around The Meadows since it opened in 1963. He earned his trainer’s license at the age of 18 in 1974 and has been one of the track’s leading conditioners for four decades. Some of his top performers remain on the list of the track’s all-time greatest horses: Amber’s Will, Miller’s Aussie, Northwest, Junket, Jet Pace, Execujet, Yankee Bart, Encore Encore, Break The Bank K and Winning Mister. Currently, he trains a stable of 40. He has been involved with the MSOA for more than 20 years, joining the board of directors in 1994. He is serving as the group’s president for the second time. The Belle Vernon, Pa., native has raced throughout North America, but has based his operation at The Meadows throughout his career, supporting not only Pennsylvania’s pari-mutuel tracks, but the fair circuit as well. His brother, Mike, is also an active owner/trainer/driver, as is his nephew, Mike Sutton. He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters, Cami and Christine.

Mark Loewe
Mark Loewe was named Vice President of Racing for the Meadows Casino, Racetrack and Hotel in February. Loewe joined Penn National Gaming, Inc. in February 2008 as general manager of the Sanford Orlando Kennel Club in Longwood, Fla. and since then has assumed racing leadership roles at five other PNGI horse racing facilities (Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, Beulah Park, Raceway Park, Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway and Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course). Loewe was actively involved in the development of the overall racing facilities at Dayton Raceway and Mahoning Valley Race Course and since late 2014 has served as Vice President of Ohio Racing Operations for PNGI. Loewe will retain his oversight of the Mahoning Valley Race Course racing operations as part of his new assignment. Loewe grew up in New York City and frequented Yonkers and Roosevelt Raceways on a regular basis. Upon graduating from St. John’s University in 1978 with a degree in government and politics, he started his career in racing, working as a groom for Bill Popfinger. In his first year with the Popfinger Stable he was the groom for Little Brown Jug winner Happy Escort. Loewe trained for Popfinger and the Jerry Silverman Stable before opening his own public stable which he ran for 10 years. After leaving the backstretch, Loewe was employed by Pompano Park and was mentored by John Cash-man. He held various positions over the course of 13 years, including TV analyst, simulcast director, assistant race secretary, race secretary, director of racing and vice president of operations. Loewe currently is a Thoroughbred racing association director for Mahoning Valley Race Course. He is married to Janet Terhune and has a son and two step-children.

Russell Williams is president of the USTA, president/CEO of Hanover Shoe Farms, and chairman of the board of Standardbred Horse Sales Co. Williams has spent his entire life in the sport. Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and a law degree from the University of Richmond. Serves as a trustee of the Harness Racing Museum and the Hanover Foundation for Excellence in Education. President of the Hanover Shoe Farms Foundation. Member of the U.S. Harness Writers Association. Lives in Hanover, Pa., with his spouse, David Schaefer.

Sam A. Beegle
Sam Beegle is chairman of USTA District 7, and an owner, trainer and driver with more than 45 years of experience. He was a driving force in the development of Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack, and also in bringing off-track wagering to Pennsylvania. Among the top horses he has been associated with are Gabby Glide, First Rate and Arctic Warrior. He currently serves as president of the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association and is a member of the Pennsylvania Equine Coalition. Beegle and his wife, Kathy, have three children, Paul, Beth and Jason, and five grandsons, Tim, Nicholas, Dakota, Logan and Jace.
