Sam Brannon, roadster trainer Horses: There are several Standardbreds roadsters in training at his stable. He has trained and/or developed World and Reserve World Champions Autobahn, Eyre Lad, Imperial Glory, Cross Bow, and is currently training several promising prospects for the show ring. Activities with Standardbreds: Roadsters to bike, wagon and under saddle; served as vice president of the American Road Horse and Pony Association and chairman of the Roadster Committee for the American Horse Shows Association. How did you come to find/meet/own your first Standardbred? "I won with a Standardbred named Eyre Lad in the Open Roadster Class at Lousiville, Kentucky, in 1967. He showed for six years and was only defeated three times. This horse won for everybody that showed him." Fondest experience with Standardbreds: "Finding
Autobahn and making him a world champion. I've had the good fortune to show many world
class road horses. They've been a thrill. It's just that Autobahn has been like part of
the family and good to me for many years." |
