Michele Kopiec
Biography
Michele Kopiec was elected corporate secretary of the United States Trotting Association (USTA) in 2022 and has been with the organization since 1999. She currently serves as racetrack operations and licensing manager, overseeing racetrack support, the licensing of drivers, trainers, and officials, coordinating educational opportunities for officials, and assisting with special projects. Previously, Kopiec worked in the USTA Member Services Department and on the Racetrack Support team, where she helped develop and implement the USTA eTrack and online entry systems. A lifelong harness racing enthusiast, Kopiec was introduced to the sport by her father, who worked for Delvin Miller at The Meadows. Prior to joining the USTA, she worked at Whitehorse Farm, Scioto Downs, and for the late Walter “Boots” Dunn. She is the proud owner of four retired Standardbred racehorses and is actively involved in breed demonstrations, showcasing the breed’s versatility beyond the racetrack. Kopiec is a graduate of Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pa., where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in large animal science with a concentration in pre-veterinary science. She has also served as an organizational advisor for the Madison County, Ohio 4-H program and currently is vice-chairperson of the Racing Officials Accreditation Program Board, serving on the steering committee and as co-chair of the education committee. She and her daughter, Paige, reside in London, Ohio.
