Biography

Richard has been in the horse racing industry since the age of 16. His first job was as a groom down at Monmouth Park for trainer Sharon Huston. Always wanting to be an announcer, he first got his foot in the door by going to the Tom Durkin announcing school at Goshen in 2015. Through that and the help of Ellen Harvey, he met Karen Fagliarone who had him announce Gaitway baby races. Richard has filled in at tracks such as Ocean Downs, Rosecroft, Harrah's Philadelphia, and all the way up to Vernon Downs. He went through the ranks, starting as the photo finish camera operator at Harrah's Philadelphia, all the way up to being the Race Secretary and track announcer at Tioga Downs for the 2019 season, while Karen Fagliarone's assistant at Freehold Raceway from 2018-2023. In between, he worked at the Meadowlands, giving handicapping advice on Fanduel TV (formerly TVG) and was a regular on the broadcast team for a few years. In addition to being an accredited charter and race secretary, he got his associate judges license through the ROAP program in 2021. He is now at Yonkers Raceway, working as the assistant race secretary to Joe Frasure and serving as the part-time announcer. Richard called the 2025 edition of the MGM Yonkers International Trot. He resides in Bound Brook, NJ, with his wife Joelle and dog Penny.
