Dover Downs to open with strong cards

Dover, DE --- The 41st season at Dover Downs gets off to a flying start on Sunday, Nov. 1, and continues daily except Fridays through April 15, 2010.

As usual, the Dover Downs meet features top horses, top stables and top drivers with 15 races a day, six days a week, with Friday the only "dark" day.

A pair of $12,500 paces and two $20,000 claimers are the opening day co-features. A $32,500 Delaware Special and $26,000 Open Pace top Monday's card while a $26,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace is the Tuesday headliner. Wednesday is top trot day with a $26,000 feature for diagonally gaited horses.

Stakes action begins on Saturday, Nov. 7, with four lucrative Matron Series eliminations. On Sunday, Nov. 8, it's also elim day for the Progress Pace along with three Matron sophomore divisions. On corresponding days the following week, the top eight finishers in each event return for rich finals.

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. Again this season, Dover Downs will race on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
