Injuries to Manzi and Bartlett are not serious
Sunday, October 25, 2009 - by John Pawlak, the U.S. Trotting Association

Cat Manzi broke his tail bone, bruised his lower back, and needed some stitches in his chin, while Jason Bartlett suffered only a sprained ankle in an accident at Freehold Raceway on Saturday afternoon.

The pair was taken to a nearby hospital following the sixth-race incident, in which the horses they were driving approached the homestretch.

Allamerican Idol, who was on the lead, broke stride and caused Fireintheshark, driven by Bartlett, to swerve outside sharply and unseat him. Manzi was driving Royal Man, who was behind Fireintheshark, and could not avoid the sudden happenings. He was then tossed onto the track.

Bartlett was released from the hospital, but Manzi was kept overnight.
