Pompano Beach, FL --- Pearl Of Capri has had a sensational racing season for owner/breeders Frank and Inge Smith and they said it was never in doubt once they named their homebred filly.

Pearl Of Capri and driver Dan Clements hope to win their tenth straight race on Super Night and share in a $100,000 bonus.

Pearl Of Capri is the 3-5 morning line favorite in the third race $51,000 final of the Florida Breeders Stakes for 2-year-old trotting fillies Saturday at the Isle Pompano Park. Her division is one of eight championship finals on Super Night at the track and the daughter of Famously-Jettas Pearl is also eligible to share in a $100,000 bonus award if she can win her last race of the season.

It also does not hurt her chances that Pearl Of Capri is on a nine-race winning streak for trainer Veral Bowman and driver Dan Clements, has already won $54,496 this season and has been able to lead from start to finish in nearly all of her victories this year.

“I knew what I was doing when we named this filly,” said Frank Smith. “If she was going to race at the Isle Pompano Park then why not name her after the Isle Of Capri casino company. She is as beautiful as a pearl, her mother is named Jettas Pearl and thus we named her Pearl Of Capri. I’m just waiting now for the casino to make me a sponsorship offer,” Smith said with a grin.

Also eligible for the $100,000 bonus is the 2-year-old pacing filly Goldstar Rosie, who starts from the rail in the $64,350 first race for driver Dan Clements. Bred, trained and co-owned by Tom Audley with Jamie Marra and Beth Levine, Goldstar Rosie has won six of her seven starts this year and $48,308.

In the fifth race, $51,175 final for 2-year-old trotting colts and geldings is another $100,000 contender as the undefeated Whosgoinwhosstayin tries for his 12th straight win for driver Mickey McNichol.

The fourth race $65,500 final for 2-year-old pacing colts features Time To Scoot and driver Dan Clements from post three. In the $14,000 Sales Stakes, Time To Scoot scored the fastest victory this season for a 2-year-old Florida-bred in 1:53.4.

Starting from the far outside in post nine is Storming Howard and driver Bruce Ranger. Storming Howard has won five of his last six starts. His lone loss was in the Sunshine Stakes by a neck to Tough Cassidy, who starts from post eight for driver Anthony Napolitano.

Southern Rain heads the eighth race $63,440 final for 3-year-old trotting colts and can tie the all-age track record for most consecutive wins at 13 with a victory. He starts from post three for driver Bruce Ranger.

Florida's 2-year-old champion Alice Springs goes for her 18th win in 19 career starts in the sixth race $61,988 final for 3-year-old pacing fillies. She is on a five-race winning streak and starts from post six for driver Wally Hennessey.

In the ninth race $68,800 final for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings, Alligator Alley is the 9-5 favorite after finishing first or second in his last seven starts for driver Wally Hennessey. He goes from post two against recent winners October Sun and McFlash.

And in the tenth race $50,000 final for 3-year-old trotting fillies, Baileysirishdream and driver/trainer Robert Roberts look to rebound from a costly break last week to return to winning form from post five. Baileysirishdream had won six straight races until her last two starts.

There will be free Super Night t-shirts to the first 1,000 fans to come to the track at 6:00 p.m. Saturday and every race but the first race will feature superfecta wagering.
